This woman is still my greatest inspiration to thi This woman is still my greatest inspiration to this day. Kaat Tilley. She is the reason I started drawing and painting in the first place. When I saw her sketchbooks at the age of 13, I thought: this is what I want to do too. She was a fashion designer, a painter, an interior architect, but most of all a fairy who landed upon the earth and sprinkled beauty everywhere she crossed. Although she passed away 8 years ago, she is more alive than ever inside me. I feel her power so strongly. In the last picture I am figurating in her clothes some years ago. I’m not an odor freak but I love it when people I’m not an odor freak but I love it when people do things from their heart. During the first lockdown I was walking in Ghent and passed by a little shop that had perfume samples stuck to the window. It turned out to be an artisanal perfumery reaching out to customers in the cutest way possible. So when shops opened again I finally got to meet the perfumist: a man who loves his job as much as I love mine. It depicts Job from the Bible after God has taken everything away from him: his children, his health, his sight, his property. Naked and with nothing more to lose, he surrenders to the Light.
